| As of 2017 the Key West fire department has 4 Trucks, 2 ambulances, 1 Rescue Boat, and a gator for off-road rescue. We have Engine (1102) that contains 1200 gallons of water, Tanker (1135) that has 1800 gallons of water that also has the ability to pump water, a Grass Truck (1145) to get to locations were the other trucks cannot get to. The Grass Truck holds 300 gallons of water, a Utility/Personnel Transport Truck (1173) to carry extra personal and equipment. In 2010 we purchased a Gator (1141) to help in fighting fires deep in the woods and to carry out anyone that may be injured. The Gator has a 60 gallon tank and a pump.
Our ambulance service began in January of 2004, prior to that we would mutual aid with Dubuque. In 2012 we purchased a second ambulance to better serve our community. Both ambulances (1151 & 1152) contain all of the most up-to-date equipment for life saving. All of our firefighters are required to become Firefighter 1 certified and earn EMT certification. We have meetings once a month and train usually twice a month. We also train on medical once a month. |
