Introducing our 2021 Fundraiser!

On February 6, 2021, the Key West Fire/EMS Association will host our 29th Annual Fundraiser. In the past this has been a ticketed event, however due to the COVID-19 Health Crisis our annual fundraising auction is taking on a new form this year. We will host an online silent auction that is open to the public through our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/keywestfd
The online auction will open on January 23rd at 8am and close on February 6th at 5pm.

Proceeds from this fundraiser are used to purchase emergency medical and firefighting equipment. In the past we have been able to purchase protective firefighting apparel, paging and communication equipment, an automatic external defibrillator, self-contained breathing apparatus and life-saving rescue equipment.

How can you help?
-Go to our website (www.kwfd.org) and our Facebook (www.facebook.com/keywestfd) page for information.
-Spread the word to family, friends, and social media.
-Monetary contributions from businesses would be greatly appreciated. (With the changes to our event this year, we are not collecting items for door prizes or auction.) Monetary donations can be mailed or dropped off at the Key West Fire Station at 10640 Lake Eleanor Road, Dubuque IA 52003. As a thank you for the support, we will advertise your business name as a contributor on our website and Facebook page!

About the Key West Fire/EMS Association:

The Key West Fire/EMS Association was organized on February 13, 1953, to provide fire protection to three townships in Dubuque County. Emergency Medical Services were added in 1985 to provide medical services to these communities. In 1996, the Key West Fire/EMS Association was certified by the Sate of Iowa as a Conditional Paramedic Service. In January 2004, the Key West Fire/EMS Association began providing Conditional Paramedic Ambulance Services to the Key West Community. In 2012 we added a 2nd ambulance and a Fire Rescue Boat. In 2020, our ISO rating went from a protection class 9 to a protection class 4 due to our updated equipment.

Membership is made up of 30 dedicated volunteers including firefighters, emergency medical responders, EMT’s and paramedics who respond to an average of 240 calls per year and commit thousands of hours to training and responding to calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The organization is responsible for one of the largest fire and EMS service areas in Dubuque County: Covering approximately 96 square miles and serving 6500 people. Our service area includes: three major highways, the Mines of Spain Recreation Area, and 10 miles of the Mississippi River. We also provide mutual aid to the city of Dubuque and nearby Jackson County departments.

Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Kate Arnold
